A-FRAME CABIN ESCAPE NEAR D.C.

I am so excited to share all about Dreamtime A-Frame with you! In early November, our family had the honor of staying there for a few nights, and I’d be remiss not to share all about our stay with you! I also hope if you’re in the DMV region (D.C., Maryland, and Virginia) that it offers a quiet, easily accessible, and peaceful escape from your city life. It took us 2.5 hours to get there from Alexandria, VA for reference.

If you enjoy “glamping,” this is for you!

Dreamtime is a fantastic, owner renovated & designed, two-bedroom, two-bathroom A-frame cabin tucked away in a semi-secluded area, close to the town of Berkeley Springs, WV. The cabin, and the entire HOA community its part of, are surrounded by tall trees on the mountainside. Simply driving through the neighborhood or hiking around the neighborhood is fun in itself!

We went during early November to catch fall leaves, but we missed a large portion of them by a couple of weeks. With this in mind, to maximize the ability to see colorful, fall, West Virginia leaves, I’d recommend going around mid October. However, visiting this area at any time of the year would be stunning! I also imagine that visiting there in the spring, when all of the trees are full of leaves and blooming, would also be beautiful too.

The Top Wish-listed Dreamtime A-Frame Cabin is fully equipped to be your home-away-from-home with a touch of luxury. The kitchen is furnished with stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, and of course, all you need for coffee & tea each morning! I’ve never stayed in a place that had MORE THAN ENOUGH k-cups to last our whole stay! It was so nice knowing we didn’t have to worry about running out of coffee. You can enjoy your meals together around the dining table, or take it to the deck for an epic BBQ next to your private picnic table. The cabin also includes a flatscreen TV with Roku streaming apps (require guest login), Roku live TV, and WiFi. One pet is also welcome during your stay, and they had the sweetest bowl for food and water already available for your pet.

You can gather around the wood fireplace/stove next to a massive glass door and windows with a picturesque view while playing board games with the family. They have ample wood available during the fall-winter months and the wood burning fireplace was so fun and cozy! They also have tons of board games available too.

Bedrooms include a master with a king bed and one queen bedroom (for a total of four). With two full bathrooms, there is plenty of space for everyone to keep up with daily routines.

The hot tub was clean, set to a perfect temperature, and easy to get to and from in cooler evening temps! We also loved the washer and dryer they had in the living area, which made it easy to wash our hot tub attire and towels throughout our stay.

Not only is the cabin itself amazing, you also have quick access to nearby trails, are minutes from Berkeley Springs Brewing Co. and Cold Run Valley Winery, and Cacapon Resort State Park. You can also find yourself in the town center with highly rated local restaurants & cafés.

As an avid hiking family, we drove to Devil’s Nose trail, which was 30 minutes from the house. The 3.0-mile out-and-back trail with 610 ft elevation gain is near Hedgesville, West Virginia. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 30 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, hiking, and walking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are February through November. We didn’t see anybody on our entire hike, which was so peaceful! We went on a weekday, so I think that helped. I do recommend ensuring you are comfortable with moderate trails and that you are comfortable reading a map should you have no cell service. It is a remote and secluded hike, but SO SO SO beautiful and worth it!!! Be sure to go all the way down to the Devil’s Pond.

Berkeley Springs offers visitors it’s natural hot springs and unique, artistic culture.

The elegant Berkeley Springs State Park has a historic mineral spa and Roman bathhouse, which offers services like massages, saunas, baths and showers.

We ate at Charlotte’s Cafe and it was phenomenal! We also got some coffee from Fairfax Coffee, which was also wonderful, and right in the heart of town.

While we didn’t do the Roman bathhouse, it does get phenomenal reviews and sound relaxing! Phone reservations are required, and there is no online booking. We just wanted to take advantage of the cabin’s hot tub, so we didn’t feel adding the bathhouse to our itinerary was necessary.

We also made our way over to Cacapon and hiked there as well. We did the Cacapon Ridge Trail, another moderately challenging trail but very pretty and secluded! The girls got to play on their very accessible and 12 and under appropriate playground. They had so much fun and the park is very well kept and clean.

After departing Berkley Springs and the cabin, we stopped in Harpers Ferry on our way back home. It was the perfect mid trip stop, and so worth visiting too! Harpers Ferry is a historic town in Jefferson County, West Virginia, in the lower Shenandoah Valley. The location where the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers meet, known as The Point, offers views of Maryland and Virginia. The Appalachian Trail Visitor Center has exhibits on the long-distance hiking trail. We ate at The Rabbit Hole which was also dog friendly and yummy.

To finish off the trip, we went to the waterfront which was one of the prettiest sights we’ve seen! There, you will see where the states converge as well as water flowing over rocks in a very peaceful manner. Be sure to take a pic there! Then you can walk across the bridge too to really soak it all in. There are many cute coffee shops and stores in town, but we didn’t have the chance to walk around too much.
